Millie's blanket - a few more squares!

Well, I've been knitting like a demon for the past week or so, even taking it to the pre-school where I work to do while I'm watching the kids. They're fascinated by knitting and stand watching for ages!!! Better than TV! Here are a couple more squares.

The first one is a basketweave. I don't really like doing this stitch but it looks great and is an old favourite with blanket knitters. Came out quite well, so not much room for complaint.

Third one I've done is a heart motif. I love this one! Came out really well in the dark pink and Millie is very girlie and loves hearts so I know she'll love it too. May do another one but in reverse st st. Made the motif up myself so doubly pleased with the result! UPDATE: Have dropped the heart square as it just didn't fit in with the rest....

This one I've called Posh Bricks - I don't know why tho, the name just came to me in a flash of inspiration! Easy pattern and very effective.

Need to take some more pics now of the other squares I've finished.....

First blog!

Well, here I am. I've been messing around with this blog for 2 weeks now and I can't get it to look the way I want so I've decided to blog anyway. I guess the look will sort itself out in the end but documenting my latest knitting project is way more important!

I've done almost 12 squares of the 50 I need to make for Millie's blanket but things are going well and I'm really pleased with what I've produced so far!

My first square was, of course, the garter stitch square. Every blanket has one and Millie's will be no exception. I'm working on a 20cm square (total of 50 squares) so each one is taking about 40sts. Depending on the pattern I may have to add one or two here and there but generally I hope to stick to 40sts.

So far I've got four different wool types: 2 bulk standard double knitting (one dark pink, one light pink), a rather lovely hairy type wool called Rascals and a textured bobbly wool called Jelly Tots. Will post my next square with my next post!!!
