What do you think?

I'm planning to restyle our living room and I need your help. I have four different accent colour schemes in mind and I can't decide which one to go for. We have a biscuit coloured lounge suite (3 seater sofa and two squishy armchairs) and lots of African art on the walls - mainly animals but following a distinctly 'natural' colour scheme (browns, creams, oranges etc). Think sunsets and the african bush.

I've done some collages of the different colour schemes and need your help to decide which one you think would fit best. I have my favourite but am interested for other opinions.

Here goes. The first one is my Duck Egg scheme. I LOVE duck egg blue. Doesn't really go with the whole 'Africa' thing but it's the colour of the sky and we have sky here....LOTS of sky.....

My second scheme is Glorious Green. My favourite colour is green so I guess this is a natural choice for me.

My third choice is Berry Red. I really like brown and red together but am worried that during our very hot summers this scheme will make the room too warm. Could be good as a winter scheme though...

And finally we have the Spicy Orange scheme! Hubby loves orange so this one was really for him but now it's together I really love it too! What do you think?

Am knitting and hooking as usual but have nothing as yet to show for my efforts. Thanks for stopping by!
Til soon.
xx

  2. My own decor tends to run to blues and second hand (ie any old thing!) but the red really makes an impact on me.

    1. I also love the blue, very much, but I think the red has impact! Hey ho, decisions...decisions...

  3. This isn't going to help, we have all chosen different ones. I like them all and I usually tend toward greens and blues, but I really like the reds. Good luck.

  4. All these colour combos have their own appeal so I guess it's about what you want to feel when you come into the room. Do you love being outside under the big African skies or in the shade of a tree? Or do you like to be cosy inside? I think for me this would at least sort out the colour combinations into two distinct groups. And I think my next step would be to shut my eyes and think about what colour I'd most like to meet when I open them at the end of a long hard day. And these things are so personal - only you can say what would give you that feeling of relaxation and "at easeness". I'd personally go for the duck egg as I love blue so much and find that soft pale duck egg colour so restful but that's just me! And of course it's difficult to envisage the whole effect until one has started. What's your "gut feel"? I'm a great believer in instinct on these things so trust what it's telling you! E x

    1. Thanks E. Your advice is sound and very true. There is one combo that my 'gut instinct' definitely sways towards and I will probably go for that. I just love them all that's the problem but they don't really work together and I want a one colour scheme. I'm sure it will just 'come to me' as the saying goes and I'll have a true Eureka moment! xxx

  5. Also love the green, but the red/orange might tie in best with the artwork. Why don't you show us some photos of that...?
